Pastoral Team

Living with passion and purpose. United by Love, to serve and to lead.

Joshua and Elaine Ortman, Lead Pastors

Joshua Ortman and his wife Elaine have been the Lead Pastors at King’s Fire Church since December 19, 2012. They began ministering in the 1990’s as youth Pastors where they traveled to many churches in the surrounding areas, leading a youth worship ministry team. In 2005 they joined Kingston Vineyard Church, which became King’s Fire Church in 2009, and began serving as worship pastors. In 2007, they became Associate Pastors at King’s Fire Church and by 2010 began interning for the Lead Pastoral role under the mentorship of Pastor Vaughan Jarrold. In 2012 Joshua was ordained as a pastor by Global Ministries and Relief. Joshua and Elaine have served in a variety of ministry opportunities ranging from mission trips to Africa and India, serving the poor, couples ministry, and hospitality. Joshua majored in science at the State University of New York at New Paltz and Elaine majored in music at the State University of New York at Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. They currently reside in Kingston, NY with nine of their 10 children who range 25 years in age.

Don and Kim Mapes, Executive Pastors

Donald and Kim Mapes joined the King’s Fire family in 2009 and now serve as Executive Pastors in charge of men’s ministry, women’s ministry, evangelism and prison ministry. Donald leads the Discovery classes throughout the year on Sunday mornings, which introduce congregants to our beliefs and finding their identity in Christ.

Over the years Donald and Kim have served in many ministries throughout the Hudson Valley. Donald has worked closely with the Men of Integrity, Community Churches of Christ International, and Riverview Missionary Baptist Church. Donald has been traveling to South Africa twice a year since 2002 preaching and teaching the Word of God. He has a heart for the lost because he was a former drug dealer and was once  incarcerated. He knows first-hand of the transformation power of Jesus Christ. He graduated from Community Bible Institute in 2008 with a Sacred Masters in Theology. Donald also received an Academician from Christ Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Divinity from Sparrow Springs Bible College and Seminary.

Donald and Kim were united in marriage on December 26, 2004. Kim became a Licensed Missionary at a very young age by St. Paul’s Community Church in Brooklyn, NY. She began her ministry at Riverview Missionary Baptist Church leading women’s ministry, young adult ministry, and teaching Sunday School. She continued in similar ministries with other churches at River of Life Ministries, Community Churches of Christ International, and King’s Fire Church. Kim has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marist College, a master’s degree in counseling from Mercy College, and a bachelor’s in Theology from Community Bible Institute. Both Donald and Kim are currently instructors for the Community Bible Institute and lead a team of people into the Ulster County Jail on Sunday evenings, singing worship and praise songs, studying the Bible, and prayer.

Christopher and Kari Politylo, Associate Pastors

Christopher and Kari Politylo have been members of King’s Fire Church since 2007 and part of the pastoral team since 2010. They are currently pastors over King’s Fire Kids, our children’s ministry, and Kari is a worship team leader.

Over the years Christopher and Kari have served in many facets of the church. Notably, Kari served as the church administrator for six years. Other areas of their ministry have included hospitality, leading Biblical finance classes, a youth mission trip to Jamaica, hosting a flourishing Life Group in their home for eight years, and establishing the church podcast and live stream outlets.

Kari graduated from Calvin College with a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education and home-school teaches their four children. Christopher graduated from University at Albany with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is employed by the State of New York.  Additionally, Christopher and Kari own and operate a successful photo booth rental business, Paramount Photo Booths.

Daniel and Amber Ray, Associate Pastors

Daniel and Amber Ray have been serving under Lead Pastors, Joshua and Elaine Ortman, for over sixteen years. Daniel and Amber both attended SUNY Orange County Community College. Daniel received his associates degree in business management and Amber received her RN (Registered Nurse) license. Daniel has traveled as a missionary to Africa and India with King’s Fire Church and is actively involved in prison ministry. He currently works for Precision Pipeline Solutions as a Deployment Manager in utilities. Amber homeschools their seven children, plays on the worship team, and coordinates King’s Fire mother’s outings.

Gil and Karen Williams, Community Pastors

Gil and Karen Williams are our community pastors who are the hands and feet of our church on the streets of Kingston and surrounding area. They serve to feed and cloth those in need. They lead our Clothing Exchange, cook at soup kitchens, have coordinated Thanksgiving dinner for people in our church who don’t have a place to go, and give out hats and gloves on the streets of Kingston. They pray for and with people with their outreach efforts in mid-town Kingston, and regularly visit local hospitals and nursing homes. They are our liaison to local civic and other partner organizations. They also serve as pastoral leads for children’s worship at, which takes place during the second service each Sunday.

Outside our region they have led mission trips to Jamaica where God is using them to help build a church. They have partnered with pastors and churches in India and have raised money to put two wells in providing water to two different communities and nearly 500 people.

Gil was a former addict and was totally delivered from drugs after 40 years — washed clean in the Baptismal tub at King’s Fire. In 2012 he was healed by His Lord and Savior from a severe illness that doctors said would take his life within two years. He was ordained by Global Ministries Relief on December 4, 2016. He worked in the Kingston City School District for 34 years, which allows him to make many connections throughout the city of Kingston. Karen was a hair stylist for 44 years before retiring. In recent years she led all but two of her clients to Christ. Gil and Karen have two sons and four grandchildren. They have also been legal law guardians and foster parents to many children in need over the years.
